A big “thank-you” to all ladies who assisted with our December 12th mid-week dinner! We look forward to another exciting and enriching year in serving God through the activities and outreaches of the UMW. On Sunday, January 20th, Circle #1, Young Women for Jesus, will host a “chili” luncheon after the 10:45 service. They are raising money for their pledges to mission. Mark this date on your calendar and plan to support these young ladies in their efforts to serve! Teresa Michener and Lisa Coleman are co-sponsors of this wonderful group!
The United Methodist Day at the General Assembly in Richmond is Thursday, January 31st. Registration is required by January 22nd. The fee is $20.00 which includes a continental breakfast and lunch, free parking at Ginter Park UMC and transportation from the church to the Capitol grounds. Your circle leader will have registration forms available at your January meetings. Plan to come! You will enjoy an interesting and fun day! I will mention in this letter that Saturday, February 9th, at Chestnut Memorial UMC, a
mini-school of Christian Missions, with classes on Israel/Palestine, Globalization and Music & Mission will be held. Gathering will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the programs are from 9:00-noon. Plan to join in this fantastic opportunity to understand God’s work in the world, how United Methodists are involved and what challenges individuals face in their personal lives and local congregations---be informed! This school is for everyone--men,
women, and children!
The Monday-Morning Bible Study will resume it’s sessions on January 7th at 10:00. Ed Peebles will lead us in a study of the pastoral readings of Titus and 1st/2nd Timothy. Come and join us.
The soup kitchen is scheduled for January 24th. Bill and Jane Waters are in charge.
