Those interested in taking part in the prayer chain should provide the following information to the church secretary (secretary@fumc-nnva.org): Name, phone number and email address. Don't worry if you do not have an email address; you will be contacted via a phone notification chain. If you had previously provided this information, please do so again so that the new coordinator can have the most accurate information.
Prayer requests may be placed on our prayer chain via email: t1bikr2@verizon.net
The United Methodist Men will hold their first breakfast meeting on Saturday, January 19th at 8:00 a.m. The program will be provided by First Church's own John Elder who will give a presentation on his efforts to become an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Included in this program will be a slide show on his hopes and desires to build a wheel chair ramp at our church as part of a project to meet the requirements to become an Eagle Scout. This much-needed addition to our church to make it completely handicapped accessible will only occur through the generous financial support of our members here at First Church.
Make plans now to attend the meeting to hear about the entire Eagle Scout program and its requirements; the wheel chair ramp now planned to be built near the preschool entrance; and what you can do personally to make this project become a reality at our church.
A reception was held on Thursday, November 29th for the family of Mr. W. H. "Casey" Johnson. Mr. Johnson passed away November 24th and was the husband of his loving wife Bernice R. Johnson. Mary Charlotte Corson, Mary Lou Carter and Peggy Tallon were in charge of the reception preparations.
We lost several more members of our church family during the month of December. The following receptions were held during that month:
December 8th, for the family of Plumie Ruth Hearn DeAlba, mother of Linda Filer
December 12th, for the family of Grace Woltz
December 13th, for the family of Tommy Link
December 19th, for the family of Dorothy "Dot" Marrow who passed away October 31 st.
Sally Spreder, Gladys Faulk, Lona Howser and Annemarie Parker were in charge of the preparations. Polly Clodfelter, Mahla Swin ford and Janet and Clyde Keller also assisted with Mrs. DeAlba's reception and Anita Crum pler with Tommy Link's.
This outreach ministry is greatly appreciated by the families involved during their time of bereavement. We thank "all" of you who so willingly render your support for these gatherings. May God bless you as you serve one another in love.
The January Co-Chairs are Rita Potter, Pat Robinson and Virginia Preston.
