The United Methodist
Youth are sponsoring
their annual Hoagie Sale
for Super Bowl Sunday,
February 3. Youth will
be taking orders beginning
Sunday, January
13 through Sunday,
January 27. The cost is still a bargain at $5
per hoagie (turkey, ham, provolone cheese,
lettuce and tomato) plus a brownie. The proceeds go toward their mission trip to Christiansburg this summer. So don't forget to
place your order.
Our youth will hold soup pots at church doors on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3. They will join young people in churches across the country to collect money for those who are hungry and hurting. In 2007, over 14,000 groups participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring generating over $8 million dollars.
None of the money is sent to the Souper Bowl of Caring headquarters. Organizers only ask that each participant report their collection so national totals can be determined and an nounced. Since the Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 more than $41 million has gone to help people in need. Please support the youth of our church in this effort to "love our neighbors" by dropping your dollar or two in the soup pot on February 3. Our donations will go to the Foodbank of the peninsula.
What is it that I see? It is a pirate ship and it is coming closer to us! Man your stations. On Saturday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall, Rainbow Productions' "A Pirate Party will drop anchor. Children of the church, the preschool and the general public are invited to attend. This entertaining special event will have something for adults too, the voices of Carol Channing and Mickey Rooney. Pirate costumes are optional but if you don't wear one, you may end up walking the plank. A free, lite lunch will fol low. For more information, contact Jerry or Martha Dodson at 599-4527. Adult help is needed. Thank you!
