This year the Christmas tree in the fellowship hall is being decorated by you - the members of the congregation. It needs lots of mittens, gloves, hats and scarves to make it complete. These items will keep some of the children and their families in our area a little warmer this winter. Please bring your donations any time during Advent and place them on our Mitten Tree.
Billie Way has donated a book entitled, The Privilege of Youth to our library. This book, written by Dave Pelzer, tells of a teenager's longing for acceptance and friendship. Dave Pelzer is the author of A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave; books which many of our church members have read.
Billie has also donated The Twilight of Courage. This novel, written by Bode and Brocke Thoene, depicts events of the so-called Twilight War-when Hitler was preparing to march and the Allies did nothing to stop him. Thank you, Billie. You always choose excellent books for White Memorial Library.
The founder of Methodism, John Wesley, believed that small groups were necessary for believers to study and share the Word of God. After four years of Disciple and Christian Believer Bible studies I cannot adequately express the blessings I have received. Not only have I learned more of God's precious word but have experienced fellowship with my classmates that can only happen in a small group. We have grown together, laughed together, and yes shed a few tears together, but most importantly we have all grown closer to Christ in our walk of faith. I can guarantee that small group Bible study will bless you in ways that you cannot imagine.
We would like to start the new Disciple Short Term Bible Study-Invitation to The New Testament in January. This 8-week, in-depth, Bible study is modeled after the basic design of Disciple Bible Study. It will require daily Bible study of 30 - 60 minutes and a weekly group meeting of one to one-and-one half hours. A two-part video segment will guide the session with interpretive presentations from biblical scholars, contextual presentations, and roundtable discussions. Classes can be held during the day, evening or during Sunday school. If you are interested, please contact Annette Pomeroy or Dave Williamson (825-7392).
The S.O.S. Puppet Productions will present Angels Aware on Sunday, December 18 at 9:45 a.m. in the multi-purpose room (2nd floor). This Christmas program is a story with a unique viewpoint, that of the angels. All church members are invited.
