If you missed our last general meeting,
you really missed a great speaker! Jose
Morelos, was so inspiring - I'm sure
many of us will be talking about him for a
long time. Cathy Williamson has done
a wonderful job as vice president,
putting together programs for our
meetings and this time, she even did the
cooking. Cathy, you are such a
blessing!
The craft show and luncheon are fast approaching. This year it will be on the same day as the Hilton Fall Festival. What a wonderful opportunity our church has to be a witness to our community. Once again we will have balloons, games and activities for children. This was very popular the first time we did it.
We will be taking orders for pecans for the Wesley Community Center, since they will not have arrived in time for the show. They will sell for $7 per lb. These always sell quickly, so get your order in right away.
We also have a new order of flavorings in. We have ordered some new flavors including: black walnut, butter, butter nut, strawberry, lemon, banana, orange, coconut, maple, and rum, as well as vanilla and almond. Remember they are only $2 per bottle. It's time to start baking for our bake sale and the holidays are coming up, so stock up now.
Remember, the craft show, is not a one-woman show. It takes lots of people working together to make it come together. Please volunteer to help out
wherever you can, or say "yes" when asked.

| Blend | 1½ cups vegetable oil |

| 2 cups sugar | |
| 3 eggs | |
| Add | 3 cups flour |
| 1 tsp. salt | |
| 1 tsp. baking soda | |
| 1½ tsp. cinnamon | |
| Then add | 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts |
| 1 tsp. vanilla | |
| Fold in | 3 cups fresh chopped (peeled) apples (I use golden delicious) |
| bake | 350 oven, 50 - 55 minutes, 9 x 13 greased pan. |
| Icing: | 1½ cups light brown sugar, about ¼ cup evaporated milk and ½ cup melted butter. Heat on low until sugar dissolves. |
