Dear Friends,Your sincere prayers, visitations and many cards during my recent illness were truly appreciated. With God's blessing, I am finding new strength each day as I return to my present activity - Writing for Historians.
My membership at First Church has been very fulfilling from the beginning of 1984 when I returned to Newport News from Westbury United Methodist Church in Long Island, NY, thanks to all of you.
Love,
Marguerite Pope Thompson
Dear Christian Friends

May God bless you all.
In Christian love,

The Bereavement Committee for the month of July wants to thank all those church members who so graciously gave of their time to prepare food for the receptions, and those who helped during the receptions.
It makes it so easy for the committee to do an excellent job for the bereaved families.
On behalf of the July committee, Louise Crigger, Norman Shields Jr., and myself, we thank you!

Dear Church Family
Jay, Ben and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your compassion shown to us during Andrew's tragic death, July 18, 2005. Thank God for His church and that Andrew knew the love of our Lord Jesus shown through His faithful servants. We thank you for the wonderful bereavement fellowship time, the memorial service, the music, the audio tape, the food, the flowers, cards, the gifts to the Foundation in memory of Andrew, and those who came to the service to show us support. Through God's grace we are surviving. Please continue to pray for us through this journey of grief. We love you and thank you.
In Jesus Precious Name,
Jay, Cathy, Ben Nicholson

Dear Board Members:
I have been allowed to use space at the First United Methodist Church since the end of April 2005. I have been to the church about twice a month and find it to be a comfortable and convenient location for the citizens I serve in Newport News.
I have used the gift of mediation that God has blessed me with to glorify His name and help people deal with issues that they are struggling with in their lives. I believe that this is one of my purposes in life.
I wanted to express my appreciation to the board of Trustees for allowing me to use this space by making a donation to the building fund. I look forward to continuing my relationship with the First United Methodist Church.
Sincerely,
Dennis A. Gilbert
