Dear Church Friends,

The road of life often has twists and turns and sometimes deep holes along the way. With Christ showing the way and with the help of friends this road and our travels are made easier. My family would like to express our deepest appreciation to all those who helped us along the way on this difficult part of our journey. Your gifts, cards, and calls as well as your kind words meant so much to us. God bless you all.

My heartfelt thanks to you who remembered me with expressions of sympathy in the death of Gertrude with cards and personal contact. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.

To the Friends and Church Family of Gertrude M. Parker

We want to thank you for all the cards that were sent to mom while she was at Riverside. We read everyone to her. They really made her feel so much better. Even though you could not see her in ICU she knew she was in your prayers. She was so proud to be a member of such a fine church. She had so many memories with each one of you. The family wants to thank you for all the beautiful cards that you have sent us. Each card has touched a special place in our hearts. The reception was wonderful. A huge thank you to the bereavement committee and its supporters.

Thank you for being the wonderful people you are. We love you.

God Bless you.

A Special Thank You!

As most people know, I have been collecting the fronts of greeting cards since 9-10-01. I set a goal of 50,000 cards, which I thought would take at least 5 years. I'm happy to report as of 6-6-05, I have now collected 50,003 cards. This never could have happened without a lot of help from my friends at First Church, and other places.

Cards have been sent to St. Jude's Children's Ranch, and two schools, one here in Newport News and one in Roanoke, Virginia.

I'm very pleased to have had a small part in helping the children. I thank you, and I know the children do too. I will be accepting any cards, that you may bring.

"IT DOESN'T TAKE A LOT OF EFFORT FOR AN ADULT TO BEND DOWN TO HELP A CHILD."

All my love,

Bertie S. Mills
