More than 118 persons have been freed from death row in recent years!! You've been reading in the newspapers about those exonerated after 17, 20, or 23 years on death row for a crime they did NOT commit!!
All this raises serious questions about the administration of justice in our criminal justice system. As Americans we proudly proclaim "with liberty and JUSTICE for all." Do our laws really uphold that claim? What place does the death penalty have in our society?
To help us deal with such issues from the perspective of Christian faith, A workshop will be held on Saturday, May 21, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Grafton.
All adults and teens are invited to participate. The workshop is planned to help participants clarify the relationship between their faith and their thinking about the death penalty.
Leaders: Joseph Magliozzi, a capital defense attorney and Hunter Mabry, author of Capital Punishment: A Faith Based Study
Deadline for registration is May 11. Registration forms and additional information are available at the church office. $16 registration fee covers cost of lunch, book, refreshments and program.
