Easter and Pentecost are two very powerful seasons of the church liturgical year. During these 50 days from Easter on March 27 this year all the way to Pentecost Sunday, May 22 this year, we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and the birth of the church by the coming of the Holy Spirit to empower the church to be Christ followers. All our preaching and teaching revolves around these important dates.
On Mother's Day Sunday, which is May 8, our Children and Youth will present their musical this year, The Tale of the Three Trees. I have asked that we have a show of hats that Sunday for the fun of it. Yes, if our ladies will wear a fancy or interesting hat. Remember we are in church so we don't want to take attention from the altar or from worship, but it might be fun to wear a hat as a sign of our celebration in this Easter/Pentecost Season.
What about our men? How about wearing a very bright necktie, one that few could miss. Well, it's an idea, and it's for fun but also to show color and maybe even the Glory of God. Don't think I've lost my mind. Sometimes its fun in the name of our gathering together in the Faith.
God bless you.
