Why I am a United Methodist, by Bishop William H. Willimon now of the Birmingham Area of our United Methodist Church is a book I hope to use as we offer a special four or five week class during Sunday School hour upstairs in room 213. During these weeks I will be leading all who are interested, especially new members who need grounding in the United Methodist Church and its doctrine, history and polity, as we understand where we are as a twenty-first century church of Jesus Christ. I will be asking you to read the book and bring it to our discussions as we delve into questions and inquiries you may have. You will see a sign-up insert in the bulletin in April and our class will begin Sunday, April 24 and run through most of May, ending at the end of May. If you want to get the book early the cost is $8 per copy and can be purchased from Cokesbury. We can order it through the church office or Annette Pomeroy can help you with sign-ups. I hope to have them available on the first Sunday of the class. It is an easy and entertaining read, which you will find very informative. Plan now to attend especially if you are new in the United Methodist Church. It will enhance your faith journey.
Peace,
John LeGault
