Midweek Fellowship for February

Midweek Fellowship continues on Ash Wednesday, February 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Bithynia Class will be hosting the dinner. There will be an Imposition of Ashes service at 6:15 before the Lenten Bible study begins at 6:30 p.m. We will also meet on February 23 with the United Methodist Men hosting. The cost of the meal is by donation. Child care is available for children (infants through 3^rd graders) during the Bible study. Registration forms are found in the Sunday bulletins or you may call the church office (595-0383) the Monday before each Midweek Fellowship. Join us for good food, good fellowship and good spiritual nourishment.

Souper Bowl of Caring - Sunday, February 6

Remember to bring an extra dollar (or two or five or ten) with you to worship on Sunday February 6. Our young people will be stationed at the sanctuary doors to receive your donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring. Every dollar collected here at First Church will go directly to LINK. The Souper Bowl of Caring, which began as the fruit of prayer, saw over 13,000 congregations and organizations raise more than $4.25 million for needy people in 2004.

Lenten Studies Offered

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, February 9. During the Lenten season several studies will be offered for your spiritual enrichment. Two of these will be held on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour. The other will be part of the Midweek Fellowship activities during February and March. Please consider joining one of these studies to enhance your spiritual journey during the Lenten season as you prepare for the Easter event of Jesus' resurrection.

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren - This 40-days study of the book will explore the question "What on earth am I here for?" Gerry Turner will lead the class which will meet in the preschool music room (#109) located near the church nursery. If you do not already have the book, you may purchase one at any local bookstore or contact Annette Pomeroy at 595-0383 to have one ordered for you. All persons are welcome. Class will begin February 13.

Following At a Distance by Kimberly Dunnam Reisman - This 7-sessions study will explore the question "How close will we get? We want to follow (Jesus), but we don't always want to follow too closely." Join the Good News Class (room #203) for this study which is open to any one who would like to attend, not just to the present class members.

Saviour on a Cross by David Kalas - Rev. John LeGault will use this book as background for the Bible study during the Midweek Fellowship study time (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) The three sessions will be held on Wednesdays, February 9, 23, and March 9. These sessions will continue to focus on the lectionary readings for the coming Sundays during Lent. Please join us for Midweek Fellowship dinner and study or you may come just for the study time.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - July 11-15.
