Volunteers are needed for active listening

CONTACT Peninsula, A Ministry of Love Through Listening, will be training for their 24-hour crisis hotline on January 29. Classes will take place on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and will run for nine weeks. If you are a caring person who would like to help others, Contact will train you in the area of Active Listening. To find out more about CONTACT, please call the business office at 244-0594.

Due to the congregation's outstanding response to the FUMC Foundation's 2004 Friends Campaign and the receipt of two generous major gifts, the Board of Directors of First United Methodist Church Foundation is pleased to announce that it was able to more than double its annual support of local church and community outreach missions during 2004. The FUMC Foundation awarded a total of $45,552 in grants to the following vital outreach ministries during the calendar year:

The mission of FUMC Foundation is to encourage and motivate the making of gifts, donations and bequests on behalf of First Church. FUMC Foundation was founded in 1978 as a nonprofit organization for religious, charitable, educational and scientific purposes and is managed by a 15-member Board of Directors, all member of FUMC and confirmed by the Administrative Council. Friends of the Foundation can be assured of the responsible and effective use of their gifts for promoting the work of First Church in the name of Jesus Christ.
