Mark your calendar for a new season of Midweek Fellowship beginning Wednesday, January 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The United Methodist Women will be hosting the dinner. We will also meet on January 19 with the Chancel Choir hosting. The cost of the meal is by donation. From 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mr. John LeGault will lead a Bible study of the lectionary reading for the week. Child care is available for children (infants through 3rd graders) during the Bible study.
Please remember to sign up either on the permanent list (you only need to do this once) or you may sign up on a weekly basis. Registration forms are found in the Sunday bulletins or you may call the church office (595-0383) the Monday before each Midweek Fellowship. Join us for good food, good fellowship and good spiritual nourishment.
The United Methodist Youth are sponsoring a Hoagie (sub sandwich) Sale for Super Bowl Sunday, February 6. Youth start taking orders beginning Sunday, January 16 through Sunday, January 30. Cost is $5 per hoagie (turkey, ham, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato) plus a brownie. The proceeds go toward their trip to Lake Junaluska in July and their spring retreat. So don't forget to place your order.
Remember to bring an extra dollar (or two or five or ten) with you to worship on Sunday, February 6. Our young people will be stationed at the sanctuary doors to receive your donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring. Every dollar collected here at First Church will go directly to LINK. The Souper bowl of Caring, which began as the fruit of prayer, saw over 13,000 congregations and organizations raise more than $4.25 million for needy people in 2004.
One of the favorite activities of the youth is their Progressive Dinner which will be held on Sunday, January 16. Several families of the church (who don't have any teenagers) are hosting it this year. The youth will begin with appetizers at Roy and Ruth Klingerberg's, then head to Jerry and Martha Dodson's for the main course. They will end at the home of John and Judy Talbert's for dessert. The youth want to say "Thanks" to these families for their willingness in hosting the Progressive Dinner, 2005.
