Shirley Daniels has donated video tape to our library entitled WTO: In Whose Hands? This is a video by the Women's Division of the General board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. Shirley suggests that this would be a good program for a circle meeting. The running time is 20 minutes.

We have a new book for the 2004 Woman's Reading Program. It is entitled Stone in My Hand written by Cathryn Clinton. The category is Education for Mission (Youth).

The Rev. John LeGault has donated the DVD of Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ. Thanks, John, this will be a valuable asset to our library collection.

It's Back! We had such a positive response for our International Covered-Dish, were trying it again. The food was out of this world, or country! Bring your favorite dish from a different country on Friday, November 13 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Cards will be available to tell us what country it's from. Invite friends or neighbors. It will be a fun evening of food and fellowship.

Virginia ADVOCATE Campaign for 2004

Mable Baird, Advocate Representative

Now is the time for our Fall campaign for subscriptions to the Virginia United Methodist ADVOCATE. The campaign goes through November. New this year are three choices - one year's subscription for $15, two years for $25, or three years for $36. The magazine is now in full color. It continues to be an award-winning church publication.

Our church's ADVOCATE representative has written to present subscribers, and many have already responded. We thank them for their quick response.

If you are not familiar with this monthly publication, let your church's representative, Mable Baird know (223-1864), and she will provide a sample copy. Also a copy will be posted on the bulletin boards by the church office and near the kitchen/fellowship hall. It is true that an informed member is always a plus for any church. The ADVOCATE provides a picture of United Methodism beyond the local church.

Please make your check payable to the church, plainly marked "ADVOCATE" but do not include it with any other contribution since it creates bookkeeping problems. It is suggested that you use a small plain envelope and either bring or send it to the church.

Remember - our campaign ends November 30! Let's continue to lead the district and the Virginia Conference on subscriptions to this informative publication.
