Teachers and other volunteers: Persons willing to serve as classroom teachers or volunteers in the nursery, recreation, kitchen, art rooms or early morning child care should contact Annette Pomeroy (595-0383) or Kim Webster (595-4652). Teenagers (7th - 12th graders) may be youth assistants.
Persons are also needed for workdays as we get ready for VBS. Those dates are Tuesdays -- June 1, June 15 and Thursdays -- June 10 and June 24. All workdays will be held at Hilton Presbyterian Church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The children at First Church will experience God's Word through God's promises and the signs of the faith during Sunday school this summer. Children in preschool through 5th grade will meet together in a "one room Sunday school" class starting on June 6 and ending August 29. They will meet in the children's Sunday School area each Sunday from 9:35 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will be Bible stories, activities, and crafts each week.
Anyone (especially parents) interested in helping staff a Sunday or two should contact Annette Pomeroy (595-0383) immediately.
Are you a young adult between the ages of 18-25 years? If so, this new class is for YOU. The class will include a time for fellowship and study on topics of interest to young adults. Ken Coleman will be the leader/teacher for the group. The class begins on Sunday, June 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the church parlor. Questions?? Contact Annette Pomeroy at the church office, 595-0383.
On Wednesday, May 19 at Point Plaza Hotel, Sara-Ann Pomeroy and 43 other high school students in the Newport News Public School system were awarded the Community Spirit Award in recognition of exemplary citizenship in their schools and the community at large. Sara-Ann was one of eight students from Heritage High School selected by her school administrators and teachers to receive this award. These students exemplify the high ideals of good citizenship such as respect, cooperation, honesty, and service to others. Congratulations, Sara-Ann!
