If you are cleaning out at home and have items (including kitchen items) that you think the church needs or could benefit from, please check with Fred Way or Jerry Dodson first. We have limited storage space and cannot afford to keep duplicate items.
A special thank you goes out to our
property chairman, Fred Way. He has held this
position for numerous years. You can find him
at church in the early morning hours or late at
night, Monday through Sunday, and all year
long. He also coordinates and drives the van
and does just about anything else anyone asks
of him. So, when you see or call on Fred, give
him a big thank you, or even better, offer to help
him out some time.

FUMC now has a Virtual Bookstore on line at Cokesbury.com. There is a link similar to the Graphic above on our home page at http://fumc-nnva.org that you can click on to go to the actual Cokesbury.com site but it will be masked with the Church name. The heading on the page will indicate that you are at First United Methodist Church in Newport News online. The address in your Browser's address bar will read http://www.cokesbury.com/home.aspx?vsl=1822. From here you will be able to browse or search the entire Cokesbury site. Currently the Link is only available on our Home Pageb (and here). I will in all probability put it on some other pages as time goes by.
As in all online shopping you will need to establish a personal account. Using this link to Cokesbury you will receive a 20% discount on most items you may buy for your personal use. Cokesbury will pay to the church a 5% rebate on personal items that you purchase. Cokesbury will capture information on sales that come through our virtual store and twice a year Cokesbury will calculate the rebate which is 5% of qualifying sales (curriculum, downloads, official products do not qualify).
There is space for a 1-2 paragraph welcome message on the virtual store home page. This is currently set up as a very simple Welcome message. I will accept recommendations for something different (more elaborate) but reserve the right (in consultation with other members of the Communications Committee) to use, modify or not use any such recommendations.
There is also a provision for recommended books. I have verbally invited Rev. John LeGault and Annette Pomeroy to provide me with recommendations. I intend to ask two or three other people for their recommendations. All members are free to recommend books to be put on this list. The link to it, on the Virtual bookstore main page is VSL Recommended List. Good Reading!
