hands24.gifGuest speaker, John Johnson, Director of Hampton Citizens Unity Commission will present a training program entitled Living, Learning and Thriving in a Diverse Community. This event will be held at St. Luke's UMC, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown. If you would like to take the van, call me at the church office (595-0383) and we will make arrangements. This activity will help us meet our Charter for Racial Justice requirement for being a Mission Today Unit.

General Meeting

Note: A new date! Due to other activities the week of the 17th, our general meeting has been moved to the 24th. A very special program is being planned for the meeting and the recipient of the mission award for 2003 will be announced. Lunch will follow at a cost of $3 per person. Imagine -- inspiration, information, food and fellowship on a winter morning in February! Don't miss it.

Wednesday and Thursday, April 21 - 24
District Mission Trip to New Windsor, Maryland

There is still time to register for the mission trip sponsored by the District UMW to New Windsor, Maryland, where our Church World Service Kits go.

On April 24 you will tour the facilities at the Brethern Service Center -- SERRV International, American Red Cross, Interchurch Medical Assistance, Emergency Response, Service Ministries, Refugee Resettlement, etc., and stay overnight on the premises at New Windsor Conference Center. April 22 you will spend the day working with SERRV International -- pricing and quality control, receive a free lunch for your work and return to the Peninsula.

Estimated costs:

Transportation:

$38 (due when you sign up; non-refundable unless a substitute is available)

Lodging:

$35 for 2 people in the room ($17.50 ea.) (due by March 1) also no-refundable unless a substitute is available)

Meals:

$33.25 (Lunch and Dinner on Wednesday and Breakfast and Dinner on Thursday.)

Only 36 people can attend -- so if you are interested in going call me at the church office (595-0383) and we will get you registered. Husbands are welcome. Remember -- this is a working-mission trip.
