In 2003 a lot of work was done at First Church. A great portion of the work was done voluntarily by First Church members and our thanks goes out to them. Much more needs to be done in this our 50th anniversary of our sanctuary.

Listed below are just some of the projects that were done in 2003:

1. The two bathrooms across from the office were painted and decorated by volunteers.

2. The handicapped bathroom was painted and decorated by volunteers.

3. New bulletin boards were installed by volunteers.

4. All the preschool classrooms were painted by volunteers.

5. Hallways on the second floor and portions of the first floor were painted by Tuition Painters.

6. The major portion of Sunday school classrooms on the second floor were painted by volunteers. They also put down carpeting and baseboards in the hallways.

7. New toilets, plus painting and decorating was done to the second floor bathroom.

8. Room identification signs were installed by volunteers.

9. New thermostats are being installed.

10. Our heating system was upgraded.

11. Our line of credit debt was decreased down to $32,000.

12. New switch plates were and are being replaced in the church.

It is noted that all materials and some of the work done was paid for by the church. If you are interested in helping out with this year's projects, contact Fred Way or Jerry Dodson.

Report from the Finance Committee

Bob Walker, Chair

We are pleased to report that the Church's entire total expenses (General Fund) for 2003 have been paid. This includes Conference Apportionments, all personnel expenses, operating expenses, work areas, etc.

Also, thanks to all of you, our Church family, we have been able to "pay down" on our Building Fund indebtedness to $32,000. This is from about $116,000 over a 2-year span.

Next, your Church Council has authorized the payment of $40,000 for the complete renovation of our 50-year-old air conditioning system for our sanctuary. These funds will come from our Rental Property Investment Account.

Things to consider in your continuing support are:

1. Building Fund indebtedness = $32,000.

2. Anticipated "Short-fall" of operating expenses, (General Fund), for 2004 = $18,428.

3. New Fund, authorized by Church Council, in order to paint our sanctuary for our 50th year Anniversary Celebration, at a cost of approximately $30,000. This fund will be entitled, 50th yr. Sanctuary Anniversary Fund, and the celebration will take place, sometime, (TBA), in September 2004.

We are indeed "blessed," and we show witness to it by our generosity for God's Work.

Noteworthy: An extra couple of dollars a week, per member, will completely fund the three areas of "continuing support" listed above; therefore they are achievable dreams.
