Advancing the Flame
A Tri-District Leadership Training Event

This is the second year of my participation in this training event scheduled for local church leaders. Virginia Wesleyan College hosted the large group and we went all over the campus as we moved into our individual training sessions. "Outreach/Missions" was the title of my group, led by Barbara Reed. How fortunate for me, because Barbara knows all about missions and is on the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. In other words, information straight from the source.

During the morning session, she gave us input from her background and explained many topics that were new to the group. After lunch, we had a sharing session, where we had an opportunity to tell about things that had been successful in our churches. This was also very valuable. With all the helps and helpers that are available to us, it is hard it find any reason not to have an active, church-involved program.

Remember our Mission Statement: To be alive in Christian faith, to express our faith through service, to build a supportive fellowship.
