PORT was here and gone quick as a wink. We averaged 48-50 guests each night and on our last night, uesday, January 6 we had 56 guests. It was starting to get cold and windy by then with occasional rain.
Everything went smooth with the minor exception of the toilets. Their age is telling on them and one night by 1:00 a.m. none of the three used by the men guests were working. We survived that and Fred Way is busily working with plumbers to get everything back in "tip-top" shape for our March hosting.
Thanks to all our partner churches: Hilton Baptist, St. Luke's United Methodist, Northside Church of Christ, Yorkminster Presbyterian, and Calvary Baptist. They all worked well with us and made every job easier. It is pleasure to be the site or host church when you have such excellent and cooperative partners.
Around the last week in February, we will post a scheduling board next to the kitchen door for you to sign up for the date and time in March you wish to volunteer.
Our youth will be hosting the dinner meal on March 21. The remainder of the dates will be worked out in meetings with our partner churches. After that we will plan for the days of our responsibility. You will be hearing from us.
Remember the dates for our March hosting, so you will be available to help.
PORT - March 17-24
These meetings are set up so we can find out what our partners can supply in "people power" and how many we will need to furnish. Also, we determine what days they will provide meals and the number of meals we need to plan.
The January group was very helpful and as a result it was a successful experience. We anticipate the same type of cooperation from our partners in March.
I had planned to give you a full report with names and hours of our January volunteers; however, it is taking more time than anticipated. Therefore, watch the March Tower for that breakdown of volunteers.
