Next month, watch the Tower for a better break down by items, such as coats, pants, jackets, etc. We will continue our clothing drive through January. | ||
The last Christmas Food Box was picked up on December 23. As always, there were some last minute substitutes because some families had moved. We had additional families and were able to contact them in time for Christmas. Each family became a prayer partner and that will continue through January.
There were 32 different volunteers who helped, several came all three days. What a great church family we have!!
This year the boxes cost $79.37 per family. Total cost was $3,968.93. Our contributions were $4,663.10, leaving a balance of $694.17 to start with next Christmas.
I would like to share a note I received on December 28 with you:
Yes, we are the Children of God. From Solom Thomas to the Wonderful Almighty people of God, we thank you so much for our wonderful baskets. You just made our Christmas. May God be the glory! Thank you, thank you.

Thursday, January 29 is the big day for us to see our legislators in action. We can sit in the gallery and watch how a bill is passed or not passed. You can check to see how your state delegates vote. Whenever possible, you can visit with one of the legislators, depending on their meetings and other appointments. You can get copies of bills and phone numbers of all the legislators.
Last year, everyone got in on the tour of the capital and the Governor's Mansion. Also, we always have a lot of fun in the van going and coming.
Priority issues for 2004 are:
The cost for the day is $17 which includes breakfast and registration, a boxed lunch and expenses for the van. We must have your reservation by January 20, so we can send in one check. Don't miss out! Call June Loving Now at 877-2569 to get your name on the list.
United Methodist Day is sponsored by the Virginia Conference Board of Church & Society, Virginia Conference Council on Ministries, and the Virginia Conference United Methodist Women.
