United Methodist Women

Gerry Beale Turner, President
What an exciting time to be a member of the United Methodist Women! In 2004 the organization will celebrate 135 years in mission! We have a vital and rich heritage and it is a thrill to be a small part of this tremendous organization.

This year we will be hearing a lot about our past, but we will also be looking into the future. Ladies, even after 135 years, there's still much to be done. I hope that we will use this celebration to get our story out. United Methodist Women is not a group of ladies whose main focus is to work in the kitchen, have little tea parties or fashion shows and socialize. We are sooooo much more.

United Methodist Women have a commitment to our community of faith, which helps us provide our time and money to support the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. We are a group of women, living out our faith by willingly following the pattern of Jesus' ministry. Our commitment involves sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through teaching and witnessing, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned and changing corrupt systems. We are in fact, communicators of love in action.

Doesn't it excite you, that God allows us to be a part of God's mission. What a wonderful gift God has given us! Just imagine that we can be and are part of God's plan. I hope each of you will make a new commitment to our purpose this year.

We are starting the year off with a wonderful opportunity to get our story out to our congregation on Wednesday, January 7 as we host the Midweek dinner.

Your executive board will be hard at work making plans to help us meet our goals, but it takes all of us to carry them out.

Life Is:
A Mystery, Unfold it
A Journey, Walk it
Painful, Endure it
Beautiful, See it
A Joke, Laugh at it
A Flower, Smell it
Wonderful, Enjoy it
A Candle, Light it
Precious, Don't waste it
A Gift, Open it
Love, Give it
Unlimited, Go for it
Light, Shine in it
