May Your Christmas Be Blessed

Mildred L. Jarrell

May your Christmas be blessed
With the joys of old,
Filling the heart with gifts untold.
Friends at the doorway
Bustling good cheer,
Carolers singing the songs we hold dear.
May your Christmas be blessed
With the homeiest things,
The warmth of a hearth, a kettle that sings,
A snug little house with loved ones near,
And a heart filled with blessings
To last through the year.

. . . to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:11

. . . and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means, "God is with us." Matthew 1:23b

The first Sunday in Advent was November 30. Advent is the time of preparation and anticipation. We observe Advent for four weeks celebrating God's gift to us, His son, Jesus Christ.

The color of Advent is purple. The ancient tradition of purple symbolizes Advent's emphasis on repentance. Our windows will be set with purple candles and our wreaths will be decorated with purple bows made and donated by our own Gertrude Parker

The sanctuary will be decorated with red poinsettias starting December 7. Order forms have been available in the Sunday bulletins. The last form will be in the December 7 bulletin. The cut off date for ordering will be Monday, December 8.

The Hanging of the Greens will take place Wednesday, December 3 following the midweek dinner. The more that participate the more fun it will be for one and all.

On Sunday, December 21 there will be one worship service at 10:45 a.m.

The Worship Committee would like to thank Fred Way, Clyde Keller and Glenn Miller for putting up the Chrismon tree and lights and Ed Wagner and the ladies for hanging the Chrismons.
