When you read our news the Arts and Crafts Show and Luncheon will be in the past. We thank everyone for all the help that made it successful.
The officers for next year will be installed at the November general meeting which will be a day-time meeting on Tuesday, November 18. Details will be given at the circle meetings. The budget for 2004 will be approved and voted on as well as the five recipients for our supplementary monies will be chosen. We look for good attendance at our final general meeting this year.
At the November circle meetings you will want to give thought to nominating the recipient of the Special Mission Recognition Pin for 2003, which is presented in February. Refer to your circle book for past recipients. There are many deserving people who work behind the scenes who have not been recognized.
All officers are to attend the District Training session at Bethany United Methodist Church, Saturday, November 22, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. At that time you will receive new material and learn about your office. You will also share the happenings in your local unit and what others are doing in their units.
In December we will host the Life Enrichment Series on Sunday, December 14. This will complete our activities for the year.
Let us continue with our theme, "Faith in Action."
It is time for buying pecans in preparation for holiday baking! They will be arriving in Portsmouth the week after the Craft Show. Fresh from the trees in Georgia, they are always wonderfully delicious, and they sell for $6 per pound. We will be taking orders on Craft Show Day. Also, we will accept orders over the phone at 826-5084. Paying with real money is definitely AOK. Paying by check is also fine -- please make checks payable to United Methodist Women. We will arrange with you for delivery.
United Methodist Women sell these pecans annually in support of the Wesley Community Service Center in Portsmouth, a Virginia-wide Mission Project. You would be excited and warmed to know of the many inner city services that this Center provides! So plan on doing some Christmas baking. Pecans also make great stocking stuffers for daughters-in-law!
