As our youth have graduated from high school and
go off to college, we at First Church would like to
reach out to them with CARE packages, a
devotional and birthday cards. If you are one of
those youth or the parent of one who would like to
receive mail, please call the church office and give
us your college address.
We are sometimes in the dark in this world but God's power is always on.
The District Breakfast was postponed because of hurricane Isabel but will be rescheduled for this spring.
We will meet for breakfast on Saturday, October 18 at 8:00 a.m. Our speaker will talk to us on "Weathering the Storms of Life."
The Virginia Conference United Methodist Men's 2003 Spiritual retreat will be at the assembly center in Blackstone, November 7-9. The guest speaker will be Dr. George E. Morris, Senior Professor of World Methodist Evangelism. Dr. Morris will lead a study of the Gospel of Luke. For further information go to <www.vaumc.org/eventshtm>
All men wanting to renew spiritual energy to help them carry on in the demands of daily living are invited to attend our breakfast at First Church. For more details of our events contact Dave Williamson at 825-7392 or Ken Coleman at 356-9990.
The first paragraph of the Purpose of United Methodist Men (from The Book of Discipline) says it best. "United Methodist Men shall be a creative supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek His daily will."
May our schedule for each day start with Jesus.
We will begin another year of soup creating on Thursday, 23 October. If you would like to join us call Ruth Klingenberg at 826-5084! And for you traditional soup makers -- see you at 8:00 a.m. on the 23rd.
