September is here! Choir rehearsal will resume this month for all choirs. We have openings in every choir and section and encourage new members to come and try our wonderful program. Knowing how to read music is not a prerequisite and we all will help you to learn new skills. Sharing your time and talent is an excellent and rewarding way to serve God and your church. If you have any questions, please call Mary at 599-4230 for further information.
The Chancel Choir (adults)
Our first rehearsal will be Wednesday, September 3 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
The Cherub/Wesley Choir and Epworth Choirs
Our first rehearsal will be Wednesday, September 10 as follows:
The Cherub/Wesley Choir (age 5 through 5th grade) from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.
The Epworth Choir (grades 6-12) from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.
I would ask that parents of The Cherub/Wesley Choir children please accompany their children for the first rehearsal. We will discuss important information at that time.
Thank you and see you in September!
Continuing this year's theme of musical families, tenor Robert Crutchfield will be accompanied on piano by his son, Will Crutchfield. Many of you remember Bob as Reverend, as he was for many years pastor of Hilton Presbyterian Church before his retirement. As a professional singer, Mr. Crutchfield has had an impressive vocal career as an oratorio and opera singer, including major roles with the Virginia Opera. Will, a noted opera conductor and accompanist, is a writer for Opera News magazine, writes and critiques music performances for the New York Times, is frequently a guest panelist for the radio broadcasts of The Metropolitan Opera broadcasts, and maintains a busy schedule as a professional accompanist.
The Chapel Ringers (youth, grades 6-12) will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 10 from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. New members are welcome. We will teach you to read music and play bells in just a few rehearsals.
The Chancel Ringers (adults) will resume rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 10. This seasoned choir plays frequently and has occasional need for ringers with musical experience. If interested, please contact John Garrett, or by phone at 599-4230 or 596-6942.
