Lay Speaker Training for the Peninsula District will be Friday and Saturday, September 5 and 6 at The Wesley Foundation, 526 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg. This is an opportunity for United Methodist to be involved in the lay speaking ministry. The basic course is the entry level for lay speaking. Rev. David Hindman, campus minister, William and Mary will be the instructor for this course. The advanced lay speaking course will be taught by Rev. David Rochford, associate pastor of Williamsburg United Methodist Church. The advanced course will be "Lay Speakers Interpret to Others Our United Methodist Church Heritage." Hours for both courses will be Friday, September 5, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.. Saturday, September 6, 8:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Saturday will begin with a continental breakfast, then at noon a box lunch. Literature, snacks and meals will all be included in the registration fee of $15. Registration will take place beginning at 7:15 p.m. the first night. CONTACT Peninsula, a ministry of love through listening, will begin training for our 24-hour crisis hotline in September. Classes will take place on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and will run for nine weeks.
