There is some interest in starting a poetry group that would meet once a month. This would be a time of writing and listening to poetry. Beginners as well as seasoned poets are welcome. Time and place to be determined by those interested in participating. If interested in such a group, please contact Annette Pomeroy at 595-0383.
The Commission on Education wishes to thank all those who taught and worked with "Lighthouse families" during Sunday School this summer. Our storytellers were Anne Elder, Erleen Wheeling, Kim Webster, Judy Talbert, and Kathy Hubbard. Crafts were handled by Lona Howser, Cindy Bush, Barbara Rucker, Margaret Warren, and Kim Webster. A special treat for the children was some poetry writing led by Nanette Hoffman. Singing was led by Martha Dodson and Annette Pomeroy. Everyone enjoyed exploring the stories about shining God's light.
Time again for our Senior Group, XYZs (eXtra Years of Zest) to meet after a (mostly) relaxing summer. Our September meeting will be Wednesday, September 24 at 12:00 noon in the fellowship hall. Our speaker will be Ms. Melissa Doughty from Endview telling us about Civil War re-enactments. Bring a covered-dish to share and a friend to enjoy our Christian fellowship.
Family Life is sponsoring an International Covered-dish Supper on Saturday, September 20 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Bring your favorite dish from a different country; breads, salads, main dishes, desserts are all welcome. Please bring a 3x5 card to tell from what country it originates.
Following supper, we will be blessed with the music of Blessed Noise. A love offering will be received for them. Child care needs to be prearranged by contacting Jerry Dodson at 599-4527.
We now have a new user friendly drink machine. The drinks are $1 for a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew (red or green), Diet Dr. Pepper, Sierra Mist or Aquafina Water. The machine is located in the janitor's office across from the choir room.
