If you haven't read If Saddlebags Could Talk by Maser and Simpson, you are really missing an excellent book. I found the Methodist stories and anecdotes enlightening and humorous.
Billie and Fred Way have given a beautiful new book to the library entitled Beneath the Cross edited by Pingry & Hogan in memory of Frances and Bill Lawton.
The following new books, part of the United Methodist Women's Reading Program, are now ready to be checked out.
Do you want to dance? Family Life is planning an old fashioned sock hop in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday night (when else?) June 7 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.. Come join in the fun, dance if you like or just sit and listen to the music from the 30s to the 60s; from Glenn Miller to the Beach Boys, from Benny Goodman to the Platters. There will be root beer floats, malts, hot dogs and more surprises. Our disc jockey for the evening will be Jumpin' Johnny Harrell. Cost is by donation and child care needs to be prearranged by calling the Dodsons (599-4527) or the Dellingers (599-4425). Let's cut a rug, twist, jitterbug or stroll. Bring a friend!
All Sunday school classes are invited to the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, June 8 beginning at 9:45 a.m. The S.O.S. Puppet Group will be performing The Light of the World. Help support this ministry with your attendance. We all will be blessed.
The XYZ (eXtra Years of Zest) Group will meet at the new Red Lobster in Denbigh on Jefferson Avenue, Wednesday, May 28 at 11:30 a.m. This will be our last meeting until September. Mark your calendar -- you don't want to miss this!
