The Love Feast

"The Love Feast, or Agape Meal, is a Christian fellowship meal recalling the meals Jesus shared with disciples during his ministry and expressing the koinonia (community, sharing, fellowship) enjoyed by the family of Christ."

"John Wesley first experienced the Love Feast among the German Moravians in Savannah, GA in 1737. It quickly became a regular part of Methodist society meetings in Great Britain and throughout the English-speaking world. As Methodists immigrated to North America they made Love Feasts an important part of early American Methodism."

"Testimonies and praise are the focal point in most Love Feasts. Testimonies may include personal witness to God's grace or accounts of what God has been doing in the lives of others. Praise may take the form of hymns, songs, choruses, or spoken exclamations and may vary from the relative formality of an opening and closing hymn to spontaneous calling out of requests and singing as the Spirit moves."

"Prayer is vital to a Love Feast. Scripture is also important. Most love Feasts also include the sharing of food."

Youth to lead worship service May 18

Over the past several years, we have been inspired by the witness of our youth on Youth Sunday. Again this year the junior and senior high youth will be leading us in worship on May 18. They have been working for several weeks in preparation for this service. The theme is "The Key to the Kingdom." Please plan to attend and show your support for our youth. You will be richly blessed!
