Hands skillfully build; friends share a bowl of rice.
Some nurture; some plant.
Some sit at desks; some work outside; some travel worldwide.
Millions of people, each with a gift.
"Serve one another with whatever gift
each of you has received."
-1 Peter 4:10b, NRSV
Joining together to offer our gifts,
Joining together with those who struggle,
We build; we feed; we nurture.
We plant; we teach; we learn.
Together we recover--
from hatred unleashed worldwide
and the horror of nature's fury.
Together we offer sustenance--
to hungry people in Siberia
and uprooted masses in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
Together, we offer hope-- to victims of economic crises in Nigeria
and displaced and refugee children everywhere.
Together we create a better life-- through mother and child health ministries in Europe,
agricultural programs in the Caribbean
and outreach to immigrants in the United States.
Together, through UMCOR and One Great Hour of Sharing,
We serve one another with God's abundant gifts.
People around the world depend on UMCOR,
and UMCOR depends on your One Great Hour of Sharing offering.
Please give generously. Your gift makes a world of difference!

Missions

June Lyon Loving, Chair

During an active February, we met with representatives from our PORT partner churches. First Baptist Church was host church. They gave us a tour of their facilities. They showed us which rooms were being used for the overnight clients and how to find things in their kitchen.

The mission committee met for the first time to discuss our part in the PORT schedule. Members of the committee are: Cindy Bush, Bob McKitrick, Shelby Knoble, Erleen Wheeling, Lona Howser, Martha & Jerry Dodson, Lisa & Ken Coleman and Sonny & Sandra Forbes, with Marguerite Thompson as our advisor.

Our final participation with PORT will be on Wednesday, March 5 at 12 midnight through breakfast and check out that morning

Did you sign up to help?

Communion offering for March is designated for One Great Hour of Sharing. This fund provides for one of the greatest missions of our church. It helps many thousands every year from around the world. Give generously and be thankful that we are only on the giving side and not on the homeless, desperate, and needing side.

May God be with you 'til we meet again!
